Overview
Journal the Word (“we”, “us”) is a Bible journaling app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you provide
- Account information: If you create an account, we store identifiers such as your email address and an authentication ID. Authentication is handled using Firebase Authentication.
- Journal content: Your journal entries and related content you choose to save.
- Reading plan data: Reading plan selection and progress you choose to save.
- Support messages: If you contact support, we receive the information you include in your message.
Information collected automatically
We collect limited technical information necessary to operate the app reliably (for example, app version and basic device information). We do not sell personal information.
Analytics and crash reporting
Journal the Word does not use third-party analytics tracking. We also do not collect crash reports through services such as Firebase Crashlytics at this time.
How we use information
- To provide core features (saving entries, syncing across devices, reading plan progress)
- To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app
- To respond to support requests
Where data is stored
Journal the Word uses Google Firebase services (such as Firebase Hosting, Firebase Authentication, and Firestore database) to store and sync data. Data may be processed and stored on servers operated by Google and its infrastructure providers.
Sharing
We share information only as needed to operate the app (for example, with Firebase as a service provider), comply with the law, or protect rights and safety. We do not sell your personal information.
Security
We take reasonable measures to help protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Access: You may request a copy of your account-related data by contacting support.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated stored data by contacting support.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service. If you request deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete your data from active systems within a reasonable timeframe (subject to legal and technical constraints).
Children’s privacy
Journal the Word is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent where required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect the most recent revision.
